Joel Hwang

Joel Hwang joined HarbourVest in 2008 and focuses on originating, evaluating, and executing growth equity and buyout investments into operating companies. Joel has led many of HarbourVest’s investments in the growth and technology arenas, currently serving as a director of Vehlo, Airspace, and Stax Payments. He also led investments into Armis, Avalara (NYSE:AVLR), Expel, Finalsite (Acquired by Veritas), Intelex (Acquired by Fortive), Klarna, Leap, Monday.com (NASDAQ:MNDY), Moon Active, Paycor (NASDAQ:PYCR), SalesLoft (Acquired by Vista), and Toast (NASDAQ:TOST).

Joel is a member of the Direct Strategy Asia Investment Committee and Direct Strategy US and EMEA Growth and Venture Investment Committee. In addition to his time at HarbourVest, Joel spent two years as an investment banking analyst in Citigroup’s Global Technology Group.

Joel received a BA (magna cum laude) in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
