Julia Martin

Head of Student Housing, EMEA International Capital Markets, JLL

With over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and capital markets, Julia Martin is a seasoned Investment Director with a demonstrated history in fund management, fund structuring and capital raising spanning indirect/joint venture vehicles and capital market transactions.

As the Head of Student Housing EMEA International Capital Markets at JLL, Julia is leading the group’s student housing capital market transactions throughout Europe and driving client development in the wider EMEA living sector. In her previous role as a European Director in the Corporate Finance team, Julia was involved with JLL’s primary global real estate fund raising and fund structuring activities across Europe with particular responsibility for Dutch, Danish and UK investors.

Julia’s career in commercial real estate traces back to her role as the Head of Fund Management at King Sturge LLP (2007-2011), where she managed European funds and played a pivotal role in advising and establishing new vehicles. She was instrumental in establishing a PBSA fund with a ME Wealth Manager in 2009/2010, investing into the   nascent UK Student housing market. Prior to that, she served as the Director at Royal London Asset Management where she oversaw the group’s real estate strategy and the fund management team.

Julia started off her career with Guardian Properties Ltd and Weatherall Green & Smith (now Sanderson Weatherall).

Julia holds a MA (Hons), Land Economy from Cambridge University, and completed programs in Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services at London Business School. She is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
